Water tank cleaning is an extremely vital part of water hygiene. The water from the water tank forms one of the most fundamental aspects of everyday life – it is used to drink, to wash, to cook.
Poorly maintained and neglected tanks can be the perfect breeding ground for harmful bacteria such as Legionella, E.coli and Pseudomonas (bacterial infection). These bacteria feed on dirt, scale, rust and debris. To prevent or control these risks, precautions should be taken to keep the system and water clean in order to avoid any adverse health risks.
Cleaning and disinfection of water tanks is recommended when there is evidence of sediment, flora growth, stagnant water, bio film, corrosion and general dirt and debris.
Most municipal departments require the regular cleaning of water tanks by approved contractors for health and safety reasons such as Dubai Municipality Local Order 11, Article (23) which states: “The Occupant shall be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of the drinking water tanks in the Building and shall be responsible also for verifying the efficiency of all the water distribution points in the same.”
At Zenith Advanced Cleaning Solutions we offer an advanced total water tank cleaning solution which includes complete cleaning, disinfection and testing. Our process is as follows:
The PH Value is an indicator for acidity and alkalinity in water. It is a good indicator of water quality. The lower value indicates acidity, and a higher value is a sign of alkalinity. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), drinking water must have a pH value of 6.5 – 8.5.
The Total Dissolved Solids Test (TDS) is another method to determine the general quality of water. TDS refers to any minerals, salts or metals dissolved in the water. These can originate from organic sources such as leaves, silt, sewage, pesticides, fertilizers and chemicals in the water treating process. TDS is tested for by testing the Electro Conductivity of water and we will ensure acceptable levels of pH and TDS are achieved in order to maintain water quality.
